LOSFA Set To Host Annual Apprenticeship Expo
Baton Rouge, La. — In partnership with Apprenticeship Louisiana, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) is hosting its annual virtual Apprenticeship Expo on Wednesday, March 4, from 9-11 a.m., via Zoom.
During the event, Louisiana high school students and two-year postsecondary attendees will receive information on apprenticeship programs through presentations from industry professionals and state and national workforce development administrators.
“The purpose of our annual virtual Apprenticeship Expo is to give Louisianans a direct line to high-quality registered apprenticeship opportunities,” said April Bergens, Partnership and Engagement Administrator. “Hearing directly from employers allows participants to make informed decisions and envision themselves in meaningful, attainable jobs.”
Participants will have the opportunity to discover an alternative pathway to high-paying, high-demand jobs as they get a chance to engage with industry professionals, ask questions, and learn the skills needed to enter these career fields. The event will feature guest speakers from DOW Chemical, Urban League of Louisiana, Louisiana Delta Community College Nursing Apprenticeship, and Apprenticeship Louisiana.
“Attendees will walk away with a clear understanding of which apprenticeship programs are available to them, what the entry requirements are, what skills they’ll gain, and how each pathway can lead to long-term, high-demand careers,” said Bergens.
Registration is required to participate in the virtual Apprenticeship Expo.
