FAFSA Website Announcement
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Individuals attempting to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may experience intermittent issues with the Federal Student Aid (FSA) website due to high traffic associated with the Student Loan Debt Relief Plan, also scheduled to launch in October. As a result, some pages may take longer to display than usual, and users may have trouble logging into an existing FAFSA. Users experiencing issues can call the FSA hotline at 1-800-433-3243 to speak with a real person for help, but the live chat feature will not be accessible unless the user is logged into their FAFSA. Users can visit the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) website to access live chat and email options.
FSAIC Hours of Operation:
Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–11 p.m. Eastern time (ET)
Saturday–Sunday: 11 a.m.–5 p.m. ET
Closed on federal holidays; June 19 and 20, in observance of Juneteenth; the day after Thanksgiving; and Dec. 24 and 26. Open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and President’s Day.
Schools that have scheduled a FAFSA Completion event with LOSFA should contact their assigned LOSFA representative ahead of their event to discuss the status of the FSA website. Events may need to be rescheduled if the FSA website is unavailable.
LOSFA is also available to provide FAFSA-related assistance to students and parents:
· FAFSA Assistance Virtual Office Hour sessions – one-on-one assistance with FAFSA Completion
· [email protected] – email FAFSA-related questions to LOSFA staff
