It’s Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, and LOSFA would like to highlight one of our Outreach Coordinators, Trudy Tietje.
Tietje serves as our main point of contact for adult learners and non-traditional students by providing information about LOSFA programs, college planning, and career navigation opportunities. She also works to ensure students understand the resources available to help them achieve their educational and career goals.
One resource available to Louisiana adult learners is the M.J. Foster Promise Program, which provides financial assistance for eligible adult students, aged 21+, pursuing short-term workforce training in high-demand career fields. In addition, adult learners may also be eligible for other state and federal aid programs, including the GO Grant and other scholarships.
Tietje, along with LOSFA’s Comprehensive Advising Officers, helps students navigate the college going process by guiding FAFSA completion, scholarship searches, and college applications. They answer financial aid questions, connect students with support services and community resources, and help them overcome barriers that may affect their educational journey. LOSFA’s has resources to help support adult learners every step of the way to help them access and complete postsecondary education.
