LOSFA Opens Applications for the 2026 John R. Justice Student Loan Repayment Program

Baton Rouge, LA — The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA), a Program of the Board of Regents, is accepting applications for the 2026 John R. Justice (JRJ) Student Loan Repayment Program.

Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the JRJ program provides student loan repayment relief to five public defenders and 10 prosecutors employed by the State of Louisiana, if they meet certain eligibility requirements. Interested individuals can access the online application on the LOSFA website.

State and federal public defenders and state prosecutors employed in Louisiana must agree to remain employed for at least three years and employed full-time for a minimum of one year as of December 31 of the preceding award year. Applicants can review additional eligibility requirements on the LOSFA website.

This year’s total award has not been announced. Applicants are encouraged to check our website periodically for updates.

The deadline to apply for relief is June 1, 2026. Applicants must sign and return the Service Level Agreement to be considered for the award.
